Indiana Grown Symposium 2025 (Danville, IN)

On March 19th The Rejoicing Vine had the honor of participating in the annual Indiana Grown Symposium, a celebration of local agriculture, food, and business. Held right here in central Indiana, this event brought together Indiana producers—growers, makers, and innovators—anyone building or growing their products in Indiana.

Sustainability Panel

Brent Kumfer, co-owner of The Rejoicing Vine, lead a panel discussion focused on sustainability in business. As the only regeneratively farmed vineyard in Indiana, The Rejoicing Vine is committed to reducing environmental impact through eco-friendly practices like locally sourced ingredients, reusable wine kegs, and minimal intervention winemaking. Our commit goes beyond our own actions though. As leaders we want to encourage others to take action as well. During the session Brent shared insights into how small, intentional changes can have a lasting impact on both the environment and our community.

Meet The Panelists

Joining Brent on the panel were fellow Hoosier changemakers:

  • Lauren Taylor, owner of Holder Mattress, a 3rd generation Indiana business has been producing high-quality handcrafted mattresses in Kokomo, IN since 1947.

  • Calvin Beasley of Beasley’s Orchard, a staple in Hendricks County known for its fresh produce, fall festivals, and deep roots in Indiana agriculture interestingly enough got established around the same time, starting the farm in 1946.

  • Audrey Barron of Wild Moon Acres, an herb farm and retreat center that focuses on regenerative farming and healing through nature.

The panel sparked meaningful conversations about stewardship, innovation, and collaboration. We’re proud to be part of a vibrant community of businesses that are putting Indiana sustainability at the forefront—whether that’s in a vineyard, orchard, mattress factory, or healing garden.

Key Takeaways

Looking for some takeaways? Whelp here goes:

  • Sustainability is more than just environmental stewardship. It's also about sustainability in society and community. To some up the conversation it's about taking care of the 3 Ps (Planet, People, & Profit - after all as businesses we won't be around to continue the stewardship if we can't pay the bills)

  • Sustainability starts with mindset and it should be an intentional commitment

  • Sustainability can have surprising and unpredictable benefits for businesses

  • Our biggest takeaway? No action is too small. Whether you're a consumer choosing local Indiana wine, a farmer switching to organic methods, or a business owner rethinking your supply chain, every step counts.

At The Rejoicing Vine, we’re committed to continuing this work—both in the vineyard and beyond-while encouraging other businesses to follow.
